January 18, 2018 A State of Emergency is now in effect for the parish of St James. Prime Minister Andrew Holness, in making the announcement at a Jamaica House press conference, said the level of violence in the second city has reached intolerable limits.  “The Government has been contemplating this action for sometime,” the prime minister said. “It is not an action for show,” he stressed.
