A man who is believed to be of unsound mind allegedly stabbed his 74-year-old father to death in Annotto Bay, St Mary on Thursday.
Dead is Leslien Miller, a vendor of Dover district in the parish.
According to reports, at about 7:45 p.m. on Thursday, Miller and his son became involved in a heated argument, during which the elder Miller was allegedly stabbed several times by his son.
He was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead. His son was taken into custody following the incident.
When The STAR contacted Deputy Superintendent Bobette Morgan, head of the St Mary Police Division, she was unable to confirm whether the suspect had been charged.
“He is a mental patient so that puts a little twist on the situation, so I am unable to say at the moment whether or not he has been charged as yet. He is being treated, and has been treated over the period for mental illness,” she told The STAR.
This is the second murder in Annotto Bay in just over a week. Last Wednesday, three-year-old Kelecia Matthews was shot and killed by an unknown assailant.
