Lions will roar in NBL – Todd | Sports

Former national invitee Baldon Todd said is aim is to lead his new club, Selassie Gardens Lions to this year’s National Basketball League (NBL) title.

The 37-year-old Todd, who made the switch from Majesty Gardens Legends ahead of the start of the season, said he has been working very hard in training and that the team is very confident this season.

“Right now I am focusing on my new team because my aim is to lead them to the final and beyond this season,” said Todd.

Todd, who led the Legends to the NBL finals in 2011, added that he has not turned his back on his community and hopes to return to the club in the future.

“It is in me to go back there (Majesty Gardens) and play for the club because I love playing at Majesty Gardens and this is where I live and so to walk away and go play for another team was a tough decision,” said the former Denham Town High school basketball star.

“I didn’t have any issue with any of the players on the team or the coaching staff but sometimes you have to make tough decisions in your life and so this was one of them for me,” he said.

Selassie Gardens will bow into action tonight when they take on the St George’s Slayers at the National Arena. Todd added that he is expecting a difficult game from the Slayers but he is confident that his team will come out on top.

“It is going to be a tough game because the Slayers have a lot of good players, but my team is very rounded and so I am confident that we can come out the victors,” said Todd. The match is set to start at 7:45 p.m.

Meanwhile, in the opening match of the double-header, Pembroke Hall Warriors will take on St George’s Saints at 6 p.m.
