Mighty Mystic set for Rebel Salute | Entertainment

Kevin Mark Holness, aka Mighty Mystic, is ready and anticipating his upcoming performance at Rebel Salute slated to be held next weekend (January 12 and 13) at the Grizzly’s Plantation Cove, Priory,

St Ann.

His message to the large expected turnout of patrons is that he will be coming with a deep message which he will deliver with high energy and passion and sweetened with genuine love.

“To me, my music is like my children; I love them all. They might be all different, but they carry a piece of me, so they represent me, and that comes with high standards,” he said.

Mighty Mystic, who hails from Goshen in St Elizabeth, identifies his songs with the message of love. He said he believes that if you lead with love, good things follow

“That approach has delivered me out of some very sticky situations. So for me, I put my everyday experiences in my music and choose to spread love within my message. For us to have a positive impact on society, we need to start with an infusion of love,” he said.

Presently the artiste, who is also the younger brother of Jamaica’s prime minister, Andrew Holness, is working on a new album which he said is set to be released in early summer.

He will be recording it at Mercy Studios, which has been used by artistes including Ziggy Marley, Katie Perry and LL Cool J.

“I’ve spent the last couple of years writing and rewriting it to where I feel it’s almost perfect. So I’m excited to begin recording and releasing the project. It’s like watching your children grow,” he said.

Mighty Mystic came on the scene in 2006 after scoring his first international hit with the song, Riding on the Clouds.

But it wasn’t until the release of his first album, Wake up the World (2010), that he became a household name.

The album featured songs such as Revolution, Original Love, and Slipped Away, with appearances from reggae icon Shaggy and roots rocker Lutan Fyah.
